Over the years we have had the privilege of supporting four Dachshunds. Of the four, three have crossed the rainbow bridge and are waiting patiently for us. We hope that our remaining Sophie will be with us for many years to come.
Below are the short introductions to Muffin, Heidi and Schatzi. Muffin was the last to leave us so we'll introduce her first. Heidi departed several years earlier and her sister Schatzi, about a year prior to Heidi. All were unique and all are greatly missed. The links at the top of the page will take you to additional pages with pictures and stories about each of 'the girls' as they were fondly known.
Muffin was rescued from the pound by a Houston Area Dachshund rescue group. We saw her photo on their adoption site online and traveled to Houston to meet her. She came home with us that day.
Heidi was also a rescue. Both Heidi and her sister came from Red Oak, Texas. We really only wanted one dog, but when we saw them both, we knew the sisters couldn't be separated.
Schatzi means 'Little Treasure' in German and indeed she was. A fiercely devoted companion, she was always there to protect us and her sister. Shatzi was the first to pass on.
