A brief look at my professional history
I am currently working (since July 1, 2013) as an Engagement Manager for Experis (formerly Jefferson Wells), in the Security Center of Expertise (COE). In this position, I conduct different kinds of security assessments with a focus on the Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements. I manage a number of projects that help clients prepare for compliance assessments against various industry standards as an example. I also perform PCI DSS assessments as a qualified security assessor (PCI-QSA).
In my former position at the Pathmaker Group, I was Director of Security Services. There I did broad spectrum security work including forensic data collection and analysis (as a Licensed Texas Private Investigator), Penetration testing, application vulnerability analysis, security assessments (mostly PCI, but also some ISO and HIPAA), developed and delivered security training, created policies and procedure documents, assisted the sales staff in scoping projects and writing Statements of Work, training new employees, and other security consulting work as required.
Prior to Pathmaker Group I worked at Verizon (formerly GTE) in a number of capacities over a twelve year period. My security positions included doing application vulnerability testing and doing the installation, monitoring and tuning of a large IDS/IPS system. In other positions, I did project management, data network installation, support and maintenance in both technical and managerial roles. About half of my time at Verizon was as a regional then group manager with the remainder doing hands on technical work.

8/1/15 With the stint in Georgetown Texas behind us, we are now back in Frisco, Texas. The last few months have been extremely busy with work, school and getting our new (to us) home in order. I've begun the task of re-engaging with several of the security related organizations I attended before leaving as well as re-establishing myself with the volunteer organizations I worked with before leaving. It's been a slow start due to extensive travel for work and a huge amount of time spent on getting the new (to us) house where we want it. The house is almost done but the travel continues. Stay tuned for some changes after January 2016.
Teaching
As a part time job in addition to my full time employment, I have been teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Dallas in Irving Texas. Upon completing an MBA with an emphasis in Telecomm Management, I was asked to prepare and deliver course work for the UD Telecomm Program. After a few years I took a short 'sabbatical' to complete a PhD.
On returning to teaching, I moved into the newly formed Information Assurance / Cyber Security program and began developing and delivering courses on security. I continue to teach on average two to three online classes each year as an adjunct professor. I continue to develop and teach courses.
